Speaker: Jim Nonnenmann, P.E.
Jim Nonnenmann is a Sr. Mechanical Engineer and Project Principal with Stanley Consultants, Inc., focusing on mechanical
design and evaluation of building mechanical systems and central energy plants. Jim has twelve years of district energy,
combined heat and power systems, building MEP, and process experience, which includes technical, project management, and
business development positions.
Jim holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and is a licensed
professional engineer in the States of Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Georgia, and Alabama.
Cogeneration represents a tried and true approach to sustainable industrial, government, and institutional campuses, and building a cogeneration facility increases total system thermodynamic efficiency, lowers energy consumption costs, and improves facility reliability. Jim’s presentation will discuss the various cogeneration technologies, including gas turbines, internal combustion engines, and steam turbines and the application of these technologies. In addition, Jim will note the impact utilizing cogeneration can have on overall campus energy usage and carbon footprint. Lastly, the impact of receiving electricity and heat from a cogeneration plant on net zero buildings/campuses will be discussed.
At the meeting we will also be presenting our scholarship award winners for 2011. Come out to the meeting to give your
congratulations!
