Speaker: Duane Paul
Project Manager in Nexant's Energy and Carbon Management Division

Duane Paul is a Project Manager in Nexant's Energy and Carbon Management Division and is located at the Madison, WI office. He has over 25 years of professional mechanical engineering experience. Duane heads up Nexant's Commercial Technology Group that provides program assistance and technical support to energy efficiency programs. His responsibilities include providing retro-commissioning services to clients, performing walk-through energy audits in commercial and industrial facilities, completing detailed technical reviews of projects, and mentoring staff on HVAC systems and energy improvement projects in commercial buildings.

Duane holds a M.S in Mechanical Engineering and a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Duane is a Professional Engineer (PE) in Wisconsin, a LEED accredited professional and a Qualified Commissioning Process Provider.

Duane is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning engineers (ASHRAE).


Technical Topic:

Energy audits identify energy improvement projects that reduce energy use and the cost of operating a building. As the price and demand for energy continue to escalate, energy audits provide building owners and operators the ability to make informed decisions regarding energy usage and potential improvements. Key elements that will be reviewed in the presentation include benchmarking, walk-through site visit procedures, data analysis, and typical findings. Additionally, an overview of several example improvement projects will be presented.
