Steeplegate Best western Inn, Symposium Room

The Mississippi Valley Chapter of ASHRAE is pleased to present its Spring 2011 seminar to all interested in Building & HVAC Design for Energy Efficiency, IAQ, and Productivity. Engineers, architects, building owners, and HVAC contractors will be interested. Professional Development credits will be awarded for engineers and for Architects who attend. Since buildings consume about 38% of total energy in the USA, continuous efforts are expended to reduce building energy use. But improperly constructed or ventilated buildings may not provide a productive internal environment with high IAQ (Indoor Air Quality). "Building features & HVAC systems must be well coordinated to achieve high IAQ."

Our presenter will be James Newman, ASHRAE Certified Operations and performance Management Professional, Owner and Managing Partner, Newman Consulting Group, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The Newman Consulting Group assists clients in creating a superior workplace that conserves energy and enhances the health, comfort and productivity of the occupants, while reducing or eliminating negative environmental impacts. The company offers Integrated Design for IAQ, Productivity, Health, Energy and Legal Liability to achieve a Healthier Building with Better Design; and Commissioning of Systems.

James Newman is a certified trainer for the ASHRAE Energy Standard 90.1. He is an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer and was a provisional energy auditor for the pilot program of the new ASHRAE Building Energy Quotient (BEQ) Program. He is a member of the Energy and Environment Committee of BOMA International.

Jim has published numerous papers on Indoor Air Quality, Energy Conservation, USGBC and LEED. He is an internationally recognized speaker on these issues and on Green Design and Efficient Operating and Maintenance practices. His most recent book, co-authored with 2 attorneys, "Current Critical Issues in Environmental Law - Green Buildings and Sustainable Development," was published by Lexis Nexis June 2008.
